What type of plan is for me?
Excess/Supplementary
Medical Insurance is
designed for Canadian residents travelling abroad with valid government
health insurance, such as OHIP or BC MSP. The purpose of this type of
insurance is to cover medical expenses over and above what a government
plan would pay in case of emergency hospitalization or out-patient
treatment.
Visitors
to Canada Medical Insurance
is for visitors, new immigrants and returning residents who do not have,
or are waiting for, government health insurance coverage in Canada.
Expatriate
Primary Medical Insurance
is sold to Canadians who are no longer covered by a Canadian government
health insurance plan due to extended stay outside the country or for any
other reason.
All-inclusive Package
more often than not offers the best value for Canadians travelling
overseas for a short period of time while needing more than one type of
coverages (medical, trip cancellation, baggage etc). To qualify for such a
package, the traveller is required to make the purchase within 48 hours of
initial payment for their trip. Furthermore, the trip must be booked
through a company duly registered in Canada.
Trip Cancellation &
Interruption insurance is
self-explanatory by its name. Please see All-inclusive Package above for
eligibility requirements.
